Oklahoma State Senate expresses appreciation to Dr. Nguyen Huu Hoat for his lifetime of dedicated service and outstanding leadership to the Vietnamese Community in Oklahoma.

Dr. Hoat immigrated from South Vietnam on March 30, 1975, first settling in Pensacola, Florida, then moving to Oklahoma City in 1977.

Dr. Hoat earned a Bachelor's Degree, Master's Degree, and Doctor of Philosophy from major U.S. universities and served honorably in the Oklahoma Reserve Force, attaining the rank of Major General.

Dr. Hoat founded the Dan Quyen newspaper in Oklahoma City in 1991, which has been published for 18 years and is distributed monthly to 25,000 families across Oklahoma, promoting Vietnamese economic development, business networking, and cultural achievements.
