HB1074 Summary

• Amends the Oklahoma Funeral Picketing Act (21 O.S. Supp. 2010, Section 1380) to increase the protected distance around funeral services from 500 feet to 1,000 feet

• Expands the definition of "picketing" to include protest activities within 1,000 feet (previously 500 feet) of cemeteries, mortuaries, churches, or other funeral service locations

• Prohibits picketing during the period from one hour before scheduled funeral commencement until one hour after actual completion of funeral services

• Maintains existing penalties for violations: misdemeanor punishable by fine up to $500, imprisonment up to 30 days, or both; district courts may also award damages including punitive damages and attorney fees

• Takes effect November 1, 2011
