House Bill 1193 Summary

• Amends Oklahoma's Sex Offenders Registration Act (57 O.S. 2001, Section 584) to require sex offenders to provide "mappable addresses" with zip codes instead of just addresses, prohibiting post office boxes.

• Mandates that local law enforcement contact any registered sex offender who has provided a post office box and require them to provide a physical address.

• Expands notification requirements for habitual and aggravated sex offenders to include newspapers of general circulation in the city, town, or county where the offender resides, in addition to existing notification to family, victims, neighbors, schools, and other facilities.

• Requires address verification on an annual basis for Level 1 risk offenders and semiannual basis for Level 2 risk offenders, with every 90-day verification for Level 3 or habitual/aggravated offenders.

• Takes effect November 1, 2011.
