HB 1214 Summary

• Establishes a tuition reduction program for dependents of full-time state employees who have been employed for at least 3 years

• Eligible students must have graduated from an accredited Oklahoma high school within the previous 3 years, be Oklahoma residents, not hold a bachelor's or graduate degree, and meet institutional admission requirements

• Provides tuition and fee reductions of 25% at comprehensive universities, 30% at regional universities, and 50% at two-year colleges within Oklahoma's higher education system

• Coverage limited to students enrolled in associate or bachelor degree programs (minimum 6 credit hours per semester), excludes certificate programs and career technology courses

• Effective July 1, 2011, with emergency clause declaring immediate need for preservation of public peace, health and safety
