HB 1496 Summary

• Reduces annual use fee for commercially owned and operated flotation devices from $35.00 to $5.00 per device.

• Establishes an additional user fee of $1.00 per person per flotation device to be paid by individuals renting commercial devices.

• Eliminates fees for noncommercial, privately owned flotation devices floating on scenic rivers.

• Exempts landowners located immediately adjacent to state-designated scenic rivers areas from paying any flotation device fees.

• Becomes effective July 1, 2011, with emergency clause for immediate passage.
