Amends 11 O.S. 2001, Section 50-112 to modify exemption from membership in the Oklahoma Police Pension and Retirement System.

Allows police chiefs or deputy chiefs of participating municipalities to be exempt from the retirement system or become members, provided they are not retired members and meet employment requirements.

Expands eligibility for former members who terminated from covered employment and are later re-employed in a covered position, removing the age 45 barrier if they had not previously retired or entered the deferred option plan.

Permits municipalities employing two or fewer full-time police officers to hire police officers over age 45 who have never participated in the system, though such officers remain ineligible for system participation.

Effective date: July 1, 2011, with emergency clause for immediate effect upon passage and approval.
