Authorizes volunteer fire fighters to equip privately owned vehicles with emergency flashing red or white lights (or combination) subject to local fire chief authorization.

Requires volunteer fire fighters to carry a signed, written statement of authorization from their fire chief while using emergency lights.

Mandates that emergency lights be visible at 500 feet in normal sunlight.

Adds exception to 47 O.S. § 12-227 prohibiting red/blue lights by allowing volunteer fire fighter vehicles to display emergency flashing lights when responding to fire alarms or emergencies.

Effective date: November 1, 2011.
