OK HB1750

Amends 21 O.S. Section 360 to prohibit public employees and officials from coercing state employees to contribute money, time, or effort for political purposes or to support/oppose legislation.

Prohibits retaliation by public employees against employees or persons for exercising political rights, participating in permitted political activities, or expressing opinions on proposed legislation.

Expands the crime of perjury under 21 O.S. Section 491 to include public employees who knowingly provide false or misleading information to the Legislature, its members, committees, or legislative staff.

Makes willful violations of the political coercion provisions a felony punishable by a fine up to $10,000 and/or imprisonment for up to two years.

Effective date July 1, 2011, with an emergency clause making it effective immediately upon passage and approval.
