Amends the Protection from Domestic Abuse Act to require petitions for protective orders be maintained in confidential case files and not disclosed to the general public

Makes emergency temporary ex parte orders of protection confidential and not available for public inspection until a final protective order is issued

Upon issuance of a final protective order, the entire court file becomes open and available for public inspection

Allows victims of domestic abuse, stalking, harassment, and rape to seek protective orders; permits minors age 16-17 to file without requiring an adult representative

Effective date: November 1, 2011
