SB 128 Summary

• Adds four new definitions to the Commercial Pet Breeders Act: "hunting dog," "sporting dog," "working dog," and renumbers existing definitions accordingly.

• Defines hunting dogs as dogs that hunt game; sporting dogs as breed groups trained to work with sportsmen or bred to hunt/race (including greyhounds and sled dogs); and working dogs as various breeds developed to do useful work such as herding, guarding, search and rescue, and service dogs.

• Creates a new exemption in Section 5003.1 of Title 59 excluding hunting dogs, sporting dogs, and working dogs from regulation under the Commercial Pet Breeders Act.

• Becomes effective November 1, 2011.
