SB 180 Summary

• Department of Corrections shall provide medical and surgical inpatient and outpatient care for inmates, with ability to refer cases beyond departmental capabilities to Oklahoma University Medical Center.

• Department of Corrections may contract with hospitals (as defined in Title 63 O.S.), physicians, and other providers of inpatient and outpatient health care services, equipment, and health care products.

• Network providers established in conjunction with Oklahoma State and Education Employees Group Insurance Board shall be reimbursed according to the current fee schedule; out-of-network providers shall be reimbursed according to current Oklahoma Medicaid fee schedule.

• Department of Corrections shall be responsible for transporting inmates to and from hospitals and providing physical security beyond normal hospital operations, and shall immediately remove discharged inmates.

• Effective date: November 1, 2011.
