SB 214 Summary

• Expands State Election Board authority to remove county election board members to include alternate members, in addition to chairs and vice-chairs.

• Requires any person disqualified from serving on a county election board, precinct election board, or absentee voting board to resign within 10 days after the close of the filing period when candidacy creates a conflict.

• Changes relationship disqualification standard from third degree to second degree of consanguinity or affinity for precinct and absentee voting board members with candidates on the ballot.

• Prohibits county election board members, alternate members, and secretaries from serving when related within the second degree to any candidate on the county ballot.

• Effective date: November 1, 2011.
