SB 338 Summary

• Amends 12 O.S. 2001, Section 921.1 to update language in the Legal Services Revolving Fund statute governing legal representation for indigent persons in civil matters.

• Replaces outdated terminology ("said fund") with updated language ("the fund") throughout the statutory text.

• Restricts eligible legal services to family law matters with priority given to domestic and family violence cases, while prohibiting use of funds for criminal proceedings, fee-generating cases, abortion-related services, and other specified activities.

• Requires eligible organizations to maintain books and records per generally accepted accounting principles, submit to annual audits by the State Auditor and Inspector, and have boards comprised primarily of licensed attorneys and at least one-third eligible clients.

• Effective date: November 1, 2011.
