SB479 Summary

• Amends 43A O.S. 2001, Section 2-214 regarding training schools within the Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services.

• Authorizes the Commissioner to establish training schools for employee training and allows the Department to pay salaries, tuition, and subsistence for employees receiving training.

• Requires employees receiving Department-funded training to enter into contracts agreeing to either continue employment for a period equivalent to the training duration or reimburse the Department for training costs paid on their behalf.

• Updates statutory language to be gender-neutral by replacing pronouns ("he," "him," "his") with "the person" or "such person."

• Effective date: November 1, 2011.
