SB 533 Summary

• Establishes the "Administrative Reform Act" to allow school districts to share superintendent positions through mutual contracts or separate agreements between multiple districts.

• Prohibits school districts with fewer than 2,000 students (by average daily membership) from independently employing a superintendent.

• Permits small school districts to either contract with other districts for superintendent services under existing law or form an administrative district with other districts to jointly employ a superintendent.

• Allows administrative districts (formed by two or more districts with combined ADM exceeding 2,000 students) to employ superintendents through contracted terms not exceeding three years.

• Takes effect July 1, 2011, with emergency clause for immediate implementation.
