Senate Bill 630 Summary

• Amends 47 O.S. Section 12-201 to require public transportation vehicles (buses, vans, trolley cars, and similar vehicles) to use headlamps, tail lamps, and appropriate lighting equipment at all times, except when parked.

• Adopts United States Department of Transportation specifications and standards from 49 C.F.R. Section 571.108 for headlamps, auxiliary driving lamps, tail lamps, signal lamps, reflectors, and other lighting equipment.

• Maintains existing requirements for other vehicles to display all lamps and illuminating devices during nighttime hours and when visibility conditions are poor (persons and vehicles not clearly discernible at 1,000 feet or less).

• Becomes effective November 1, 2011.
