OK SB857

Authorizes the Commissioner of Public Safety to direct the Department of Public Safety to develop a proposal for an intergovernmental cooperative agreement with tribal governments that issue tribal license plates.

Requires the cooperative agreement to improve public safety by establishing a more uniform and expeditious method of obtaining ownership and registration information for motor vehicles operating on Oklahoma roads and highways.

Specifies that any cooperative agreement must be conducted in accordance with paragraph 1 of subsection D of Section 1221 of Title 74 of the Oklahoma Statutes.

Codifies the new authority as Section 2-108.3 of Title 47 of the Oklahoma Statutes.

Effective date: November 1, 2011.
