Director of the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation authorized to appoint up to 20 special officers with approval of the Bureau Commission to enforce laws related to larceny of oil field equipment, supplies, or products.

Special officers designated as "Special Investigators" shall not be salaried employees and have enforcement authority only regarding oil field larceny statutes, with same authority as other peace officers in this limited scope.

Special Investigators must execute a $500,000 surety bond approved by the Director that indemnifies against damages from illegal or unlawful acts by the investigators.

Special commissions expire on January 1 of odd-numbered years following appointment, and Director may renew, suspend, or revoke commissions at any time.

Special Investigators receive no compensation or expenses from the state or its departments, agencies, or subdivisions for their services; effective November 1, 2011.
