SB910 Summary

• Amends 70 O.S. 2001, Section 3311.4 regarding continuing law enforcement training requirements for peace officers certified by the Council on Law Enforcement Education and Training (CLEET).

• Requires all active full-time certified peace officers to complete minimum 25 hours of continuing law enforcement training annually, including mandatory 2 hours on mental health issues.

• Applies training requirements to tribal officers commissioned through cross-deputization agreements with the state or political subdivisions; requires 100 hours of refresher training with 4 hours of mental health education for officers inactive 5 or more years.

• Establishes suspension procedures for officers failing to meet annual training requirements, with written notice and reasonable time to comply; suspension reports must be sent to District Attorney, insurance company, and agency officials.

• Effective November 1, 2011.
