SB922 Summary

• Adds two new emergency grounds for school transfers: unavailability of comprehensive full-time online programs and unavailability of specialized deaf education programs when determined to be in student's best interest.

• Allows emergency transfers, once granted, to automatically remain in effect for subsequent school years unless cancelled by mutual agreement between the receiving school district's board and the parent.

• Maintains existing emergency transfer grounds including building destruction, inability to offer desired subjects, catastrophic medical problems, transportation failures, mutual district concurrence, and dropout recovery services.

• Becomes effective July 1, 2011 with an emergency clause allowing immediate effect upon passage and approval.
