Senate Bill 926 Summary

• Department of Corrections shall develop a certificate program for offenders set for release, with the Board of Corrections promulgating necessary rules.

• Certificates of relief from disabilities may be granted to eligible offenders to remove automatic forfeitures, employment bars, and disabilities resulting from criminal convictions, except for rights to public office.

• Conviction covered by a relief certificate shall not cause automatic forfeiture of licenses, permits, employment, franchises, or voting rights, except for DUI violations within 10 years and any felony conviction affecting Oklahoma Self-Defense Act permits.

• Judicial, administrative, and licensing bodies retain discretionary power to suspend, revoke, or refuse to renew licenses and permits based on the underlying conviction.

• Act becomes effective November 1, 2011.
