SB 953 Summary

• Prevents the Department of Public Safety from assessing multiple reinstatement fees when a person has more than one suspension or revocation, requiring only a single reinstatement fee for all suspensions or revocations shown in the Department's records.

• Increases the single reinstatement fee from the effective date through June 30, 2013 to $50.00, with $25.00 deposited to the Department of Public Safety Revolving Fund for Oklahoma Highway Patrol Academy funding and operational expenses.

• Reduces the reinstatement fee to $25.00 beginning July 1, 2013 and thereafter.

• Modifies the Department of Public Safety Patrol Vehicle Revolving Fund to permit expenditures for patrol aircraft, equipping of vehicles, and other operational expenses of the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, in addition to patrol vehicle purchases.

• Maintains existing processing fees and trauma-care fees for specific suspension or revocation types, with $250,000 monthly collected under the statute apportioned as provided by law and excess amounts deposited in the General Revenue Fund.
