Oklahoma Legislature designates May 3, 2011, as "Breast Cancer Awareness Day" in the State of Oklahoma.

One in every eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime.

Breast cancer is the leading cause of cancer deaths in women ages 15 to 54, with more than 11,000 younger women diagnosed annually and over 1,000 deaths per year.

Resolution recognizes men and women are both at risk for breast cancer and emphasizes the importance of education and early detection.

Legislature expresses support for grassroots organizations, support groups, and clinics providing support, education, and treatment for those affected by breast cancer in Oklahoma.
