• Acknowledges February 2011 as Teen Dating Violence Prevention and Awareness Month in Oklahoma to raise community awareness about dating violence among youth.

• Defines teen dating violence as a pattern of abusive behaviors (physical, sexual, verbal, emotional, economic, technological) used to harm, control, or intimidate a dating partner.

• Notes that one in three adolescent girls experience physical, emotional, or verbal abuse from a dating partner, with victims more likely to abuse substances and continue abuse patterns in future relationships.

• Encourages all Oklahomans to prevent teen dating violence by empowering young people, assisting victims, creating resources, implementing school intervention policies, and promoting community awareness.

• Directs distribution of the resolution to the Oklahoma Cabinet Secretary for Education and the State Superintendent of Public Instruction.
