Oklahoma Senate expresses appreciation to Air Force Staff Sergeant Matthew Treadwell for saving the life of Jackson County Sheriff's Deputy Kevin Walker during a heart attack at the National Police Week shootout competition at Altus Air Force Base on May 14, 2009

Staff Sergeant Treadwell recognized Deputy Walker was experiencing a heart attack rather than a stroke, secured his loaded weapon, opened his airway, and performed at least seven cycles of CPR with Special Agent Ross Bergstresser until paramedics arrived

Treadwell's decision to bring a combat lifesaver kit and his recent completion of the Army Combat Lifesaver course proved critical to the successful rescue

Both Staff Sergeant Treadwell and Special Agent Bergstresser received the Lifesaver Award from the Altus Fraternal Order of Police for their heroism

Deputy Kevin Walker fully recovered from the heart attack and returned to duty with the Jackson County Sheriff's Office
