HB2208 Summary

• Requires irrigation districts, master conservancy districts, regional water districts, and rural water districts to develop comprehensive plans for water use and conservation, filing them with the Oklahoma Water Resources Board every 5 years beginning in 2015.

• Prohibits creation of new water districts where existing water planning and implementation districts already operate.

• Updates the Oklahoma Water Resources Board's authority to develop a comprehensive state water plan that prioritizes and incorporates local and regional planning from established water districts.

• Mandates all water-related districts to file annual or periodic reports with the Water Resources Board, and requires the Board to utilize submitted plans for informational purposes in developing statewide water policy.

• Effective date: November 1, 2012.
