OK HB2273

Authorizes the Oklahoma Health Care Authority to pay professional expenses (dues, licenses, memberships, continuing education) for its administrator and full-time physicians employed by the Authority, limited to courses conducted in Oklahoma.

Permits the Medicaid Drug Utilization Review Board to establish prior authorization protocols for prescription drugs, including newly approved medications that may be prior authorized upon FDA approval pending Board review.

Exempts HIV/AIDS and Hepatitis C medications from prior authorization requirements, except when generic equivalents are available.

Prohibits prior authorization or application of this act to any drug used for causing or inducing abortion as defined by Oklahoma law.

Effective date: November 1, 2012.
