HB 2497 Summary

• Requires applicants seeking approval for drilling oil or gas wells to notify the board of county commissioners of the county where the well will be located and any contiguous county whose roads and bridges will be used for access.

• Notification must be made by certified mail with return receipt requested, at least 14 days prior to approval of the application.

• Applies to applications submitted on or after July 1, 2012, and to any pending applications submitted before that date that have not yet received a permit.

• Declared an emergency measure to take effect immediately upon passage and approval.
