HB 2514 Summary

• Amends 21 O.S. 2011, Sections 1277 and 1280.1 regarding unlawful carrying of firearms and firearm possession on school property

• Allows concealed handguns to be carried onto private elementary and secondary school property if the private school's governing entity has adopted a policy authorizing such possession

• Modifies 21 O.S. 2011, Section 1280.1 to permit handguns in vehicles on public school property when transported pursuant to a valid Oklahoma Self-Defense Act license, provided the vehicle is only used to transport a student to and from school and does not remain unattended

• Permits concealed handguns to be carried on private school property by licensed individuals under the Oklahoma Self-Defense Act only if the private school has adopted an authorizing policy

• Effective date: November 1, 2012
