HB2640 Summary

• Amends Oklahoma health care regulations to prohibit licensed health care facilities, physicians, advanced practice registered nurses, physician assistants, and state agency employees from referring clients for personal care services or companion/sitter services except to licensed agencies.

• Expands the definition of "licensed health care facility" to include acute care hospitals, long-term acute care hospitals, rehabilitation hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, assisted living facilities, residential care homes, home care agencies, adult day care centers, and hospice agencies.

• Maintains existing requirements for home care agencies regarding supportive home assistant training, criminal background checks, supervisory visits, and compliance with the Oklahoma Home Care Act.

• Becomes effective November 1, 2012.
