HB 2864 Summary

• Amends Oklahoma insurance law (36 O.S. Section 6055) regarding accident and health insurance coverage and practitioner selection.

• Requires diagnostic laboratories and diagnostic/therapeutic radiological service providers to disclose in writing to the insured whether they are non-preferred providers and that the insured may be responsible for all or part of service charges.

• Maintains existing protections allowing insureds to select any licensed practitioner for covered services and establishing limits on cost-sharing differences between preferred and non-preferred providers.

• Becomes effective November 1, 2012.
