Director of Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation authorized to appoint up to 20 Special Investigators with Commission approval to investigate oil and gas industry crimes including equipment, property, supplies, and product larceny.

Special Investigators are not salaried state employees, serve at Director's discretion, and have enforcement authority limited to oil and gas industry crimes only with same authority as other peace officers.

Each Special Investigator must obtain a $500,000 surety bond before receiving a special commission, with the Director's approval; bond indemnifies against illegal or unlawful acts.

Special commissions expire on January 1 of odd-numbered years following appointment; Director may renew, suspend, or revoke commissions at any time.

Act becomes effective November 1, 2012.
