HB 2924 Summary

• Amends 11 O.S., Section 37-117 to establish a ten-year term limit on municipalities' acquisition of water rights through eminent domain.

• Restricts condemnation of surface rights to easements only, limited to access, wellsites, pipelines, and other necessary appurtenances for water acquisition.

• Requires municipalities to remove any appurtenances above or below condemned property within two years after the term ends or when acquired water rights are no longer needed.

• Allows municipalities to continue acquiring lands and water within and outside corporate limits to meet future waterworks requirements.

• Effective date: November 1, 2012.
