HB 2934 Summary

• Amends 47 O.S. 2011, Section 14-120.1 to limit escort vehicle requirements for oversized vehicles to trips of 20 miles or greater distance.

• Vehicles exceeding 12 feet in width must be accompanied by certified escort vehicles only when traveling 20 miles or more on Oklahoma highways, including Interstate highways.

• Maintains existing requirements for escort vehicle operator certification by the Department of Public Safety and reciprocal agreements with other states.

• Effective date July 1, 2012 with emergency clause declaring immediate necessity for public peace, health, and safety.
