HCR1021 Summary

• Creates the Oklahoma Cancer Treatment Parity Task Force, effective until November 15, 2012, to research disparities in health insurance coverage between oral anticancer medications and intravenously administered chemotherapy medications.

• Task Force consists of 11 members appointed by the Governor, Speaker of the House, and President Pro Tempore of the Senate, including health care providers, insurance industry representatives, licensed oncologists, and members of the public.

• Appointments must be completed by August 1, 2012, with the first meeting held by August 15, 2012; members serve at the pleasure of their appointing authorities and receive no compensation or travel reimbursement.

• Requires the Task Force to submit a report by November 15, 2012, to the Governor and legislative leaders containing findings and recommendations for necessary statutory or regulatory changes.

• Staff support provided by House and Senate staff, with the Insurance Department providing additional support and information as requested.
