SB 1000 Summary

• Removes the requirement that counties be contiguous (adjacent) to participate in joint purchasing arrangements with other counties.

• Authorizes Oklahoma counties to participate in nationwide purchasing programs sponsored by the national association representing counties and local cooperative procurement agreements.

• Amends 19 O.S. 2011, Section 1501 regarding county purchasing procedures by striking language that previously limited multi-county purchasing to contiguous counties only.

• Effective date: July 1, 2012, with an emergency clause allowing immediate implementation upon passage and approval.
