SB 1127 Summary

• Modifies bail bondsman licensure qualifications by changing "good character and reputation" to require applicants be "competent, trustworthy, financially responsible, and of good personal and business reputation and character."

• Grants the Insurance Commissioner authority to require any documents reasonably necessary to verify information provided in bail bondsman license applications.

• Changes financial statement and property statement submission deadlines from the bondsman's birth month to September 30 for professional bondsmen and September for property bondsmen.

• Clarifies the prohibition on persons convicted of "any felony" or those who "pled guilty or nolo contendere to a misdemeanor involving dishonesty or moral turpitude" serving as bail bondsmen.

• Becomes effective November 1, 2012.
