SB 1178 Summary

• Amends 29 O.S. 2011, Section 4-144 regarding hunting and taking black bear in Oklahoma.

• Requires persons who hunt and kill black bear to attach a tag to the killed animal.

• Establishes license fees of $100 for legal residents and $500 for nonresidents, with no fee for residents holding lifetime hunting or combination hunting/fishing licenses issued before July 1, 2012.

• Increases penalties for hunting without a license: $200-$500 fine or up to 6 months jail for residents; $800-$1,000 fine or up to 6 months jail for nonresidents.

• Becomes effective July 1, 2012 with an emergency declaration allowing immediate implementation upon passage and approval.
