SB 1293 Summary

• Amends Oklahoma cosmetology law to modify definitions and reciprocity license requirements for applicants from other states, territories, provinces, or foreign countries.

• Eliminates the three-year continuous practice requirement for applicants holding current licenses from jurisdictions with substantially equal requirements to Oklahoma.

• Allows reciprocity licenses without written and practical examination for qualified applicants from unlicensed jurisdictions if they possess either a current valid license or can demonstrate three years of continuous practice.

• Requires applicants without current licenses to pass written and practical examinations unless they can document three years of continuous practice in the occupation.

• Adds requirement for applicants to provide evidence that documents have been verified as valid by a creditable agency recognized by the Board; effective date November 1, 2012.
