SB 134 Summary

• Permits physician assistants (PAs) licensed in Oklahoma or another state to provide medical care during declared state or federal emergency disasters under the supervision of an available licensed allopathic or osteopathic physician.

• Limits PA services during emergencies to those within the PA's normal scope of practice.

• Provides liability protection for physicians and PAs providing onsite emergency care, exempting them from damages except in cases of gross negligence or willful/wanton misconduct.

• Codifies new authority as Section 519.6a of Title 59 of the Oklahoma Statutes.

• Effective date: November 1, 2012.
