SB 1355 Summary

• Amends the Sex Offenders Registration Act (57 O.S. 2011, Section 583) to require court orders for removing level one and level two sex offenders from the public registry after their registration period expires.

• Allows level one or two offenders to petition district court 30 days before their registration period ends, with the Department of Corrections named as a party; courts must grant petitions if the offender has fully completed all registration requirements.

• Permits level one offenders who have registered for 10 years without additional felony or misdemeanor arrests to petition for removal from the registry.

• Removes information from the public sex offender registry only upon presentation of a certified court order removing the registration requirement.

• Becomes effective November 1, 2012.
