Bill Summary: SB 1363

• Amends Oklahoma law (57 O.S. 2011, Section 561.2) to update references from "Section 79" to "Section 183 of Title 73" regarding correctional facility construction processes

• The Oklahoma Department of Corrections must develop and apply criteria for selecting sites to construct correctional facilities, including consideration of medical services, support services, transportation, employee availability, and incentives

• Establishes a formal proposal process requiring the Department to request proposals within 30 days, identify qualifying proposals within 30 days of receipt, and forward the top three qualified proposals to the Board of Corrections

• Authorizes the Department of Corrections and Department of Central Services to adapt architectural and engineering plans for additional facilities, with architectural services costs paid by the Department of Corrections

• Effective date: November 1, 2012
