SB 1364 Summary

• Amends 21 O.S. 2011, Section 1290.14 regarding firearms instructor requirements under the Oklahoma Self-Defense Act.

• Exempts persons who qualify for exemptions under Section 1290.15 from needing to obtain a concealed handgun license in order to become a firearms instructor.

• Requires firearms instructors to meet eligibility requirements for concealed handgun licenses, complete approved training courses of at least 16 hours, and pay a $100 application fee to CLEET.

• Establishes automatic renewal of firearms instructor registration for active duty and retired law enforcement officers without additional fees.

• Effective date: November 1, 2012.
