SB 1413 Summary

• Amends 21 O.S. 2011, Section 701.8 to clarify the definition of murder in the second degree in Oklahoma.

• Establishes that murder in the second degree occurs when a person takes a human life during or if death results from the commission or attempted commission of any felony other than those enumerated in Section 701.7.

• Replaces previous language regarding "a person engaged in" a felony with more explicit language specifying that the death must occur during or result from the felony.

• Effective date: November 1, 2012.
