• School districts serving grades 7-12 may incorporate age-appropriate dating violence information into existing health curriculum, including definitions, warning signs, and characteristics of healthy relationships.

• Parents or guardians of students under 18 years old may request and review dating violence instructional materials from their child's school principal within a reasonable timeframe.

• District boards of education may establish and enforce policies addressing dating violence incidents involving students at school, potentially based on a model dating violence policy.

• "Dating violence" is defined as a pattern of behavior using threats or actual physical, sexual, verbal, or emotional abuse to control a dating partner.

• The act becomes effective November 1, 2012.
