SB 1447 Summary

• Eliminates sales tax exclusions for newspapers, periodicals, and tourism broker transportation services by removing strike-through language from Section 1354

• Removes multiple sales tax exemptions including those for specified fraternal/charitable organizations, private educational institutions, cultural organizations, accredited museums, museum admission tickets, and motion picture/television production companies

• Deletes exemption for modular dwelling units and certain vitamins and dietary supplements sold by chiropractors from Section 1357

• Repeals Section 1366 (sales tax deduction for bad debts) and Section 54003 entirely

• Becomes effective January 1, 2013
