SB1531 Summary

• Amends 74 O.S. 2011, Section 1207 to clarify that the Oklahoma Native American Liaison's authority to negotiate cooperative agreements with federally recognized Indian Tribal Governments applies to agreements under "this title" rather than specifically "Title 74 of the Oklahoma Statutes"

• The Oklahoma Native American Liaison position remains appointed by the Governor and must be held by an American Indian with at least one-quarter (1/4) blood quantum

• Maintains the Liaison's existing duties including monitoring compacts with tribal governments, overseeing state agency consultation policies, and ensuring coordination between state agencies and tribal governments

• Preserves the requirement for an annual report to the Governor, Speaker of the House, and President Pro Tempore of the Senate on state and tribal government interactions

• Effective date changed to November 1, 2012
