SB 1549 Summary

• Amends 21 O.S. 2011, Section 1277 to remove prohibitions on concealed handgun carry at meetings of officials, sporting events, and pari-mutuel wagering facilities.

• Retains bans on carrying concealed handguns in government buildings, prisons/jails, and elementary/secondary schools for persons with valid concealed handgun licenses.

• Creates new exemption allowing licensed concealed handgun carriers to bypass security checkpoints at state, city, or county facilities by presenting a valid concealed handgun license and driver license/ID.

• Maintains existing restrictions for college and university properties, allowing handguns only in vehicles, authorized areas, or with written institutional consent.

• Effective date: November 1, 2012.
