Senate Bill 1569 Summary

• Requires all candidates filing for federal, state, county, municipal, or judicial office to provide proof of identity and eligibility at the time of filing their Declaration of Candidacy.

• Authorizes the Secretary of the State Election Board to promulgate rules specifying required documentation for proof of eligibility, with identity proof satisfied by documents specified in Section 7-114 of Title 26.

• Amends Section 20-102 of Title 26 to require presidential candidates to provide current government-issued photo identification or copy thereof, plus one of four specified citizenship documents (state birth certificate, federal birth certificate, Certificate of Birth Abroad, or Report of Birth Abroad).

• Mandates that election boards make copies of all submitted identity and eligibility documents available for public inspection under the Oklahoma Open Records Act.

• Becomes effective January 1, 2013.
