Senate Bill 1582 Summary

• Amends 10A O.S. 2011, Section 2-7-201 to authorize the Executive Director of the Office of Juvenile Affairs to appoint and commission campus police for secure juvenile facilities and their adjacent grounds.

• Campus police appointed under this authority shall have the same powers and responsibilities as campus police appointed by governing boards of state institutions for higher education under Title 74, Section 360.15 et seq.

• Campus police appointments and commissions must be based on rules established by the Board of Juvenile Affairs.

• Executive Director may delegate powers and duties to a designee during temporary absence, and the Board may appoint an interim or acting Executive Director to exercise such powers until a permanent Executive Director is employed.

• Effective date: November 1, 2012.
